Jewelry Mourns Its Biggest Fan

“You can’t cry on a diamond’s shoulder, and diamonds won’t keep you warm at night. But they’re sure fun when the sun shines.” - Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor had an appreciation for jewelry since she was a little girl. In an interview, she once stated: “My mother says I didn’t open my eyes for eight days after I was born, but when I did, the first thing I saw was her engagement ring. I was hooked!” Her love affair with jewelry resulted in one of the most extensive private jewelry collections in the world. The famous icon was known for many things, including her knowledge and love of stones and design. Her collection is so vast that it marveled even François Curiel of Christie’s. He was completely impressed by her knowledge of each piece, as well as the variety of the collection, and quality of each of its components. Taylor wore her pieces in unique and innovative ways, layering necklaces and pairing them with other pieces in such a way that each design made an individual statement, as well as contributed to the overall look. She was truly an inspiration to jewelry lovers everywhere and her influence, taste, and fearless style will continue to influence those to come.
